How To Find The Way To Happiness – With 1 Simple Skill

If you want to find the way to happiness, there’s 1 simple skill that should always be a part of your personal growth ‘tool box’. No, it’s not a way to make a bunch of money or get great sex. Nor is it a mansion, a yacht, a gorgeous bod, cooperative spouse or well-behaved kids.

Don’t get me wrong, all of that stuff is great, but without this one skill, even a squillionaire’s happiness is truly limited.

In his deeply inspirational book Spiritual Liberation, Michael Bernard Beckwith shares a list of the skills that ‘evolved’ peeps share. The one I’m talking about here?

Forgiveness

Oh yeah, that’s right folks – the big ‘F’. Without it? Expect limitation, disappointment and an ever-turning wheel of frustration. Why? Because forgiveness sets the forgiver free.

Beckwith offers a wonderful method for forgiving even the most rascally of irksome characters in our lives. He teaches this method to others and sees it as part of a practice of forgiveness. Ready? Here goes …

Visualization for Forgiveness

Find a quiet place where you wont be disturbed for awhile.
Sit with your spine straight and your shoulders relaxed.
‘Relax’ the front of your body, allowing a ‘softening’ of your heart area without dropping your shoulders.
Bring to your mind’s eye an image of the person you want to forgive.
Now you’re going to ‘mentally broadcast’ your message. Like this:

“[Name] I forgive you and set you free. Your actions no longer have power over me. I acknowledge that you are doing the best that you can, and I honor you in your process of unfoldment. You are free and I am free. All is well between us. Peace is the order of the day.”

There – Not so Bad, Is It?

But it gets better!! What if you know you’ve done wrong and wish to be forgiven? Well, he’s got a beautiful method for that, too. Simply follow the above steps and, after calling the person to mind whom you have hurt or caused harm, mentally broadcast the following message:

“[Name] I know that within you there is an energy of forgiveness that forgives me and sets me free. My words and actions have no power over you. You are free and I am free. All is well between our spirits. Peace is the order of the day.”
