(I'm offering the following for your thought and look forward to your ideas.)
Ever ask yourself why bad things happen to good people? They didn't do anything to hurt someone else so why are they being punished for wrong-doing when they didn't do anything wrong!
When we come into life, here on Earth, we arrive with a plan. Some people call it a contract. which seems to be, to me, to be set in concrete. In orher words, not changeable.
I prefer to call it a plan. A plan seems more flexible... more like an outline rather than a completed, firm contract. Like an outline it has headings, sub-headings, items under them, etc. which can be changed by adding, deleting or altering items. (Items in this illunstration being life events -- small or large.)
When I refer to adding, deleting or altering items, I'm actually speaking to the exercise of what I see as free will.
In the 'grand scheme of things' our plan starts with several very important items (headings) with several suggestions and opportunities (sub-headings) ... you get the idea.
So why do we come here with this plan? To learn, to grow, to experience, to become!
And what do we need in order to do that? Challenges, problems, difficulties, opportunities, encouragement, confidence.
Think about it: if your life was always 'smooth sailing', with never a problem, how much would you learn and grow? Some, of course, but in the grand scheme of things, not a lot.
Other people are often the means to spur us on. We may not like our challanges or even our opportunities; we may not even like the people who interact with us BUT know that we're all working together to help each other to learn, to grow, to experience, and to become.
I remember the first time I read Neale Donald Walsch's "The Little Soul and the Sun". Two little souls who love each other very much discuss what they're going to do in their life after they're born. One of them says she's going to learn forgiveness but she needs something to practice forgiveness. Her deeply loved friend, the other little soul, says "I will do it". Can you imagine?! She offers to do something for which her friend will have to learn to forgive her! That touches me so very deeply.
Some of us seem to have a 'dream life'. In other words, a life that seems to be easy with few if any problems while others of us are struggling with problems, some of them quite large. Nobody goes through life without some difficulties. There are often many difficulties that don't 'show' but that doesn't make them less present, less pleasant.
In every experience there's a gift. In order to appreciate the experience, the gift, we often need perspective which is another way of saying it requires us to look at our experiences in the long view, from a later time. Sometimes from a much later time!
It's also a gift to look back on problems, challenges, troubles etc. and realize that there was/is a gift. No matter what the situation, you learn things, become wiser, stronger, more confident, more hopeful. With this more refined belief system, you're more effective and at ease in your life, your family, your community, the world.
No body is here by accident. You are loved. You are cherished. You are one of a kind!
