Your Very Best Friend – 5 Ways To Make Your Body A Buddy

Ever heard the saying “your body is your temple”? Well, there’s more to this than prayers. Loving your bod is just as important as expanding your mind or connecting with your spirit.

Why? Well basically, it’s your ‘house’  - for a lifetime.

We humans are kind of like tortoises that way. We carry our house around with us. But unlike turtles, we’ve come up with all kinds of fiendish ways to mess up our ‘home’, and it can get real ugly.

“Sex, drugs and rock-n-roll” used to be a pretty cool anthem, but AIDS, Crack and Jimi Hendrix showed us all exactly what happens when we forget to be our body’s friend.

Here are five simple things you can do to befriend your body – no matter its size, shape, or ability.

1. You Are What You Eat

A regular diet of heavily processed foods makes your insides sick. Feed your body plenty of fresh fruits, veggies and whole grains every day. Even a couple of pieces of fruit or salad every day is a great way to give your body more energy – and better fuel to protect you from disease.

2. Some of the Best Medicine …

is laughter. See if you can laugh a little bit at least once a day. Laughter lifts your spirits and floods your body with good-feeling endorphins. A daily dose of laughter also boosts your immune systems and relaxes your body. Try it for a week and see how you feel!

3. Shake it up

Couch potato is as couch potato does – and that’s to say, not very much. Get you circulation, inspiration and your mood in higher gear by moving your bod. Exercise, take a walk, touch your toes, dance, do the funky chicken or play Twister,  it doesn’t really matter. Just give that booty of yours a daily shake and leave the potatoes in the kitchen.

4. Attitude Adjustment

You are what you eat, but you’re also what you THINK. If you’ve got a bad attitude about anything on a daily basis, one of these days your body’s going to pay the price. So lower your stress by raising your thoughts. Every single day find 10 good things to think about, thank about or smile about. Focus on the good stuff – your body will love it.

5. Inhale Please

“Breath is Life” say the yogis of the world. Every part of your body needs oxygen so never deprive it. Not only does conscious, deep breathing a few times a day feed every cell in your body, it also calms your mind, reduces physical tension and uplifts your mood. Ahh …
